Mangalore, Jan 16: Araf, son former city mayor Ashraf, has surrendered in a court, sources said. Araf was wanted by the police in connection with a complaint of drug abuse.

In a complaint filed with the police during August last, a person named Arjun had alleged that Araf had lured his daughter, a student, into drug addiction and had planned to pack her off to Mumbai from here.

Ashraf had later met the city commissioner and dismissed this allegation. The girl student in question recovered after having been put through de-addiction process in a hospital for about two months.

Araf is stated to be pursuing college education in Mumbai. The police were tracking him. It is now learnt that he has surrendered in a court and that he has been booked under Drugs Trafficking Act.

commissioner, As you know this is a crime, don't give the public a chance to not keep a faith on police department and the Indian law. He must punished according to the law. If he is son of Mayor, stil he is a criminal.so treat him as a criminal not mayors son. at last i don't know why our stupid lowyers supports these criminals. for their money ? shame on these people, to run their family they are begging money from thse politicians. LAW is same for Everyone. Doen't matter if he is rich or poor, politician or public, black or white, Hindu or Christian or Muslim, Crime is Crime, commissioner we public are especting the real justice. so do your job and show your sinciarity towards public.

What a shame!!! The picture shows “local congress big guns” are accompanying ex-Mayor of Congress whose sun was indicted for drugging a girl, for meeting police chief of the district. Is it is not a clear case of influencing / pressurizing police by a political party? Is this act of congress leaders is the proof of their support to Drug Mafia? In the picture it appears to be an Congress Parties official program!!!!

Drug dealing in any form should be condemned from all the corner of this society. If former mayor's son Araf found guilty should be booked under law even the the addicted girl too.In a democratic country law is equal to everybody irrespective of thier strong hold.

I sympathize with the girl and her family. Glad that she has come out of the ordeal. I hope she remains clean and becomes a role model for the suffering young addicts and helps them to kick the habit.

Punishment for the drug peddlers ? When the proven terrorists, acid throwers, corrupt politicians, bureaucrats & judges, land grabbers and builders, fake currency & stamp paper peddlers etc., don't get punished and carry on their trade with impunity, why are we dreaming that the drug peddlers will be punished ? Yes, we live in a dream land.

    Regards,

    JDS

It is not his mistake, it is the mistake of our law, he will walk free very soon, he will have great God fathers to release him with pride. No one is there to ask the girl or her parents who went through the ordeal. Do not bring relegion here instead support law book such black spots in the society.
