Mangaluru, Mar 12: In a significant spiritual initiative, the Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh South Zone is organizing a grand pilgrimage walk titled "Namma Nadige Mudipu Punya Kshetrada Kadege" (Our Walk Towards Mudipu Pilgrimage Centre). The event, held as part of the silver jubilee celebrations of St Joseph Vaz Shrine in Mudipu, will take place during the Lenten season to inspire spiritual renewal.
The pilgrimage walk will commence from the Dayamata Church, Paneer, in Kotekar village and proceed via Deralakatte and Natekal, culminating at the St Joseph Vaz Shrine in Mudipu. An estimated 5,000 faithful are expected to participate in this spiritual journey.


The inaugural ceremony will be held at the starting point in Paneer, where Bishop Emeritus Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza will bless the gathering, and Fr Victor D'Mello will formally inaugurate the event. The concluding ceremony at the shrine will include prayers led by Fr Assisi Rebello and Fr Santosh Menezes, while Fr Cyprian Pinto will administer the Eucharistic blessing.
The pilgrimage is being organized with the collaboration of priests, religious sisters, parish councils, various Catholic organizations, educational institutions, and 21 commissions under the Catholic Sabha South Zone. This event also aligns with the global celebration of 2,025 years since the birth of Jesus Christ.

Details of the pilgrimage were shared during a press conference attended by Catholic Sabha South Zone president Dolphy D'Souza, coordinator Alwyn D'Souza from Paneer, unit president Rajath Vegas, silver jubilee celebration coordinator Roshan D'Souza, vice president of St Joseph Vaz Shrine Naveen D'Souza, secretary Santosh D'Souza, and vice president of Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh (R) South Zone Arun D'Souza.
This grand spiritual event is expected to bring together a large number of faithful, strengthening their faith and unity during the holy season of Lent.
