Mangaluru, March 13: A heavy gust of wind and rain that struck the area on the evening of March 12 caused a coconut tree to fall onto the roof of a house in Bastipadpu near Ullal, leading to significant damage to the structure.
The incident occurred at the residence of Vishwanath Thevul, located on U P Mallya Road in Bastipadpu. The heavy rainfall began on Wednesday evening, and the strong winds led to the unfortunate event. Though the house was occupied by the family at the time, there were no casualties, and everyone inside the house was unharmed.
The coconut tree fell directly onto the roof, causing substantial damage. The roof was completely destroyed, leading to a loss estimated to be in lakhs of rupees.
In response to the damage, Vishwanath Thevul has lodged a complaint with the Ullal City Municipal Council, seeking assistance and further action regarding the incident.
