Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 14: Tushar Gandhi, great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, has refused to retract his statements against the RSS and BJP despite demands for his arrest by the two outfits.

Speaking in Aluva near Kochi on Friday, Gandhi reiterated his stance, asserting that he does not believe in apologizing for his words. “This fight is more essential than the freedom struggle. The Sangh must be exposed,” he declared.

The controversy erupted after Gandhi, during the unveiling of a statue of Gandhian P Gopinathan Nair at Neyyattinkara, labeled the BJP and RSS as ‘dangerous enemies’ and called the RSS ‘poison.’ BJP-RSS workers reacted by blocking his car and shouting slogans.

BJP leader and former union minister V Muraleedharan accused Gandhi of ‘monetizing’ his great-grandfather’s name and demanded his arrest. Meanwhile, the Kerala government arrested five BJP-RSS workers for disrupting Gandhi’s event, sparking further political tensions.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the attack on Gandhi, emphasizing that suppressing free speech cannot be tolerated in a democracy.
