Ranjit Savarkar slams Owaisi over remarks on Veer Savarkar and Golwalkar

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Mar 15: Ranjit Savarkar, grandson of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, has strongly criticized AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi for his controversial remarks about Veer Savarkar and former RSS chief Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar. Responding sharply, he dismissed Owaisi’s comments as baseless political propaganda, stating, “Dogs keep barking, but that does not mean we should pay attention to them.”

Owaisi had accused both Veer Savarkar and Golwalkar of insulting Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Ranjit Savarkar called Owaisi a habitual liar who distorts history for political gains. “Owaisi is the number one liar, and he does this deliberately. A man who bows before Aurangzeb’s grave has no right to comment on India’s history,” he asserted.

Dismissing Owaisi’s claim, Savarkar pointed out that his grandfather had, in fact, honored Sambhaji Maharaj in a 1925 article titled 'Hutatma Chhatrapati', which glorified his sacrifice. He accused Owaisi of deliberately misrepresenting history by selectively quoting from the article to suit his narrative.

Savarkar also drew a historical parallel between Owaisi and Qasim Rizvi, the leader of the Razakar militia during the Hyderabad State conflict in the 1940s, accusing Owaisi of continuing Rizvi’s legacy of religious coercion and divisive politics. He reminded that the Razakars were responsible for mass violence, forced conversions, and massacres before the Indian Army ended their reign.

He further attacked Owaisi for allegedly glorifying forces that brutalized Sambhaji Maharaj, referencing how the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb subjected him to 40 days of gruesome torture before executing him. “Those who now praise such brutalities are trying to rewrite history to suit their politics,” he remarked.

Dismissing Owaisi’s statements as political stunts, Savarkar warned that such rhetoric encourages communal discord and should not be ignored. “This is not just politics; it is sedition. It promotes riots and division. The government must take strong action,” he urged.

Ranjit Savarkar also took a swipe at Tushar Gandhi, great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, for calling the RSS a ‘cancer’. He accused Tushar of lacking historical knowledge and engaging in political propaganda. “Tushar Gandhi does not understand the history of his own family. He spreads misinformation for personal gain,” he said, even offering to send him a book on Gandhi’s assassination to better understand historical facts.

Condemning self-serving politics, he stated that figures like Owaisi and Tushar Gandhi were stoking unrest for personal and political gains, without concern for national unity. “It is unfortunate that such individuals are willing to set the country on fire for their own interests,” he concluded.
