SMVITM celebrates International Women’s Day

Udupi, Mar 17: Women Empowerment Cell (WEC), in association with College Internal Complaints Committee (CICC) of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management celebrated International Women’s Day on March 13 from 3.15 PM to 4.30 PM in the Seminar Hall, Admin Block.

Chandrani Sarkar, H R Head, Unicourt, Mangaluru, the chief guest of the event, explained gender equality, which is crucial in today’s corporate world and the assessments which are based on knowledge and skills rather than gender. She said that companies are fostering diverse and inclusive environments, recognizing that talent transcends gender. She emphasized that empowering women is essential to bridge the gender gap, especially for the younger generation who should focus on knowledge acquisition over biases.

Chandrani Sarkar gave tips to the students that to excel, individuals must plan priorities, be organized, disciplined, and view challenges as opportunities for growth. Developing resilience is vital to overcome setbacks and sustain progress.

Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal of the college presiding over the event, explained about the importance of the day and appreciated the Women Empowerment Cell members for organizing this function.

Prior to the stage program, fun games were conducted to the house keeping staff, faculty and staff members and girl students of the institution.

More than 140 girl students and women employees participated and benefited from the program.

The program was compered by Yashaswi of 6th semester ECE. Yogeshwary B H of Department of ECE welcomed the guests and Ashwini, Department of AI&ML gave the introduction of the chief guest. Dr Deepika B V, HoD, Department of Civil Engineering welcomed the guest florally. Vidya Bhat, AO and placement officer, Department of MBA presented the honorarium to the chief guest.
