Mangaluru, Mar 19: The Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh (R) organized a memorial event to honour the late Casmir Menezes, former president of the organization. In recognition of his contributions to society, he was posthumously conferred the title ‘Dheer Tandeli’. The event was held on March 17, at the Bejai Church Hall in Mangaluru.
The memorial service began with a Holy Mass led by the Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore diocese, along with Dr J B Saldanha, spiritual director of Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh (R), and Fr John Vas, spiritual director of the episcopal city deanery. They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.















































Following the Mass, a floral tribute was offered to the portrait of Casmir Menezes at the Bejai Church Hall by dignitaries and attendees. The event saw the participation of past presidents, current office bearers, and members of the Catholic Sabha from various parishes across Mangaluru and Udupi.
Dr J B Saldanha and others highlighted the remarkable contributions of Casmir Menezes to society, urging everyone to follow his path of service. Born and raised in the Christian faith, Menezes fostered interfaith harmony and selflessly served the community. He was affectionately known as ‘Casmir Anna’ by people of all backgrounds for his dedication to social service, including his contributions to the Shri Manjunatha Temple in Beltangady.
Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh (R) president Alwyn D’Souza Paneer and event convener Paul Rolti D’Costa delivered messages on the occasion. The event commenced with a welcome address by vice president Steven Rodrigues, while general secretary Alwyn Prashanth Monteiro proposed the vote of thanks. Wilfred Alvares, joint treasurer of the organization, anchored the event.
Treasurer Melid Rodrigues officially announced the posthumous title conferred upon Casmir Menezes. The programme concluded with a fellowship lunch.
