Media Release

Udupi, Mar 19: Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna met with urban development minister Rahim Khan to submit an appeal regarding various concerns related to the Udupi municipality.

One of the primary issues raised was the vacant position of a full-time permanent municipal commissioner. The position has remained unfilled for several months, causing administrative difficulties and disruptions in daily public services. MLA Yashpal Suvarna urged the minister to appoint a full-time commissioner at the earliest to ensure smooth functioning of the municipality.

Additionally, he requested immediate approval for the proposal to utilize funds allocated for the municipality’s water supply as general funds for civil works. The MLA also sought financial assistance for the construction of a new municipal office building and special grants through the department for the development of Udupi’s core infrastructure projects.

Responding positively to the appeal, minister Rahim Khan assured that necessary steps would be taken soon regarding the appointment and fund allocations.
