Udupi, Mar 19: District in-charge minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar condemned the assault on a woman, who was tied to a tree and beaten over allegations of fish theft in Malpe, and directed authorities to take strict action against the perpetrators.

"Tying a woman and assaulting her in such a manner is inhumane. Upon receiving the information, I immediately spoke with officials and directed them to take stringent action. Three individuals have already been arrested, and I have ordered a thorough investigation to determine if there are others involved," Hebbalkar stated.

She further emphasized that such uncivilized behavior will not be tolerated, adding, "Police will take appropriate action against the offenders. We cannot allow people to take the law into their own hands."

Hebbalkar assured that a detailed investigation will be conducted and necessary measures will be taken to ensure justice is served.
