Karkala, Mar 20: In a major breakthrough, a man who had been evading trial for 34 years has been arrested and brought before the court.
The accused, identified as 64-year-old Leo Roche from Tenka Edapadavu, had a case registered against him at the Karkala town police station. However, he had remained in hiding, avoiding court proceedings for decades.
Due to his prolonged absence, the court had issued a Long Pending Case (LPC) warrant against him.

Acting under the guidance of Karkala ASP Harsha Priyavanda, a police team led by circle inspector Manjappa D, along with Karkala town PSI officers Sandeep Kumar Shetty and Shivakumar S R, successfully tracked him down. Head constable Ramesh H and police constable Darshan apprehended the accused in Fajir, Mangaluru, on March 19.
Following his arrest, he was presented before the Karkala court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
