Udupi: Stage Set for Sode Mutt Swamiji to Ascend 'Peetham' on Jan 18

Udupi, Jan 16: Controversies over Paryaya invitation aside, Swami Vishvawallabhateertha of Sode Mutt, accompanied by the Swamijis of the Ashta Mutts, will ascend the ‘Peetham’ at Sri Krishna Mutt at 4 pm on Wednesday January 18. He will be the 36th successor to the Peetham.

A stage programme will be held at Rajangann, attended by chief minister D V Sadanand Gowda, state ministers Dr V S Acharya, Krishna Palemar, and Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes, MLAs, and dignitaries.

Retired judges of the Supreme Court and judges of the High Court will be present on the occasion.

‘Paryaya Prashasti Awards’ will be presented to Vidwan Katte Vadirajacharya for his contributions to philosophy, retired Justice B N Shreekrishna for jurisprudence, Vidwan R K Padmanabha Bangalore for music, Dr Shreepati Rao Manipal for medicine, Dr Ganjeefa Raghupati Bhat Mysore for art, Kumble Sundar Rao for Yakshagana, Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murthy for social service, Moodbidri Alva’s Education Foundation chairman Dr Mohan Alva for education, and ‘Taranga’ Kannada weekly magazine editor Sandhya S Pai for literature.

January 18: Religious discourse - Dr Gururaj K Nippani, Bellary from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm, followed by classical music concert - Vidwan R K Padmanabhan, accompanied by B Raghuram on the violin, C Cheluvaraj on the ‘Mridangam’ and Dayanand Mohite on ‘Ghatam’ from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

January 19: Religious discourse - Dr Manakari Srinivasacharya Bellary from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm, followed by violin concert by Vidwan Vittal Ramamurti, accompanied by Padma Shankar on violin, Patri Satishkumar on Mridangam and V Suresh on Ghatam.

January 20: Religious discourse - Vidwan B N Vijayeendracharya Mysore from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm, followed by Carnatic concert by Vidushi Bombay Jayasri, accompanied by H N Bhaskar on violin, Manoj Shiva on Mridangam and Anirudh Atreya on Ghatam.

Janurary 21: Religious discourse - Vidwan Rameshacharya Tumkoor from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm, followed by ‘Veena’ concert by Vidwan Rajesh Vaidya and group from Chennai.

January 22: Religious discourse - Vidwan Pushkara Prasad Acharya Tumkur from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm, followed by ‘Krishnanjali’, a ballet by members of Rechita Nrutyalaya of Chennai, directed and choreographed by Vidwan Vijaya Madhavan.

January 23: Religious discourse - Dr M Udaya Kumar Saralattaya Nidle from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm, followed by Carnatic concert by Vidwan T M Krishna, Chennail, accompanied by Vittal Ramamurti on violin, and Thiruvaarur Bakthavathsalam on Mridangam.

January 24: Religious discourse - Vidwan Raghavendra Puranic Udupi from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm, followed by Yakshagana play ‘Samarabheema-Bheemajata’, by the renowned artistes of ‘Tenku’ and ‘Badagu Tittu’ Yakshagana style.


About Sri Vishvawallabateertha

He was born to Vedamurti Padigar Srinivas Tantri and Vedavati couple on March 24, 1991, and christened as Raghava Tantri. He did his schooling in his native Padigar and passed SSLC with first class.

Raghava was renamed as Vishvawallabateertha by his Guru Vishvottamteertha on June 14, 2006, at Sode Mutt. He has undergone religious and spiritual training at Sode Mutt with Swami Vishvottamteertha and Vedamurti Konandoor Gopalakrishna Acharya.

He was taught Vedic studies by Swami Vidhyasagarteertha of Krishnapura Mutt, Uday Kumar Saralattaya, and grammar study by Raghavendra Puranik.


Educational contributions:

Swami Vishvawallabhateertha has taken special interest in streamlining the functioning of the primary school established by his Guru in Innanje village. He was successful in upgrading the primary school to high school and later pre-university college. It was a boon to rural students. He also set up a English Medium High School in the neighbourhood.

Swami Vishvawallabhateertha was instrumental in setting up the Madhavadiraj Technology and Management Institute in Vishvottam Nagar, Bantakal, near here, in record time. He has devoted his time, energy, and efforts in nurturing the institutions that have been established by Guru Vishvottamteertha.

He has also built cow shelters, improved the landscape of Sode Mutt, renovated the branch of the Mutt in Renjala near here. He has promoted Vedic studies and literature by publishing ‘Tatvamallika’, a quarterly journal. He has also built ‘Raja Dhama’, a guest house at Sode Mutt.

 

Udupi: Paryaya Reception Committee to Felicitate Swami Laxmivarateertha on Jan 17

Udupi, Jan 16: The city is being illuminated and hoardings adorn prominent spots ahead of the grand Paryaya of Swami Vishvawallabateertha on Wednesday January 18.

The head load offerings started pouring into Sri Krishna Mutt from across the district.

The Paryaya reception committee will felicitate Swami Laxmivarateertha of Shiroor Mutt here on Tuesday January 17 at 8.00 pm in the presence of chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda, state ministers, and dignitaries.

The district police deployed 750 police personnel from Shimoga, Hassan, Chikmagalur, Uttar Kannada, and Dakshina Kannada districts, headed by four DySPs, besides 100 police women and a crime squad of 100 police personnel to oversee security arrangements during the Paryaya on Wednesday.

The police have embarked on a mobile campaign in the taluk to create general awareness on curbing crimes.

The event will be webcast LIVE on TVDaijiworld from 8 pm on Tuesday January 17.

    Wishing the youngest sawmmeeji all the best in his future endevours ,we look forward a very harmonious , development oriented paryaya during his period.
    Pictures are very nice and and the Hore kanike (carrying the offerings on head)is really meaningful. I think the word used "Christianed as Raghava Tantri" in the introduction is incorrect for Hindus.Please see that these kind of errors do not occur.
