St Agnes College's dept of computer applications hosts ‘TECHNOVATE 2025’

Mangaluru, Mar 21: The intra-departmental fest ‘TECHNOVATE – 2025’ was held on March 17, organized by the department of computer applications at St Agnes College (Autonomous).

Lanwin Deepak Lobo, senior director, Data Science and AI, MResult Technologies Pvt Ltd, graced the inaugural function as the chief guest. He commended the students for their efforts in organizing the fest. As the senior director for Data Science and AI, he emphasized that computer applications students are fortunate to be part of the digital era, with vast opportunities in the tech world. He highlighted the importance of acquiring essential skill sets to thrive in the industry, noting that many jobs are being displaced by AI. However, he reassured the students that while AI is transforming the job landscape, it cannot replace human ingenuity and adaptability.

The principal, Sr Dr Venissaa, also praised the students for successfully organizing multiple events. She commended their dedication and hard work, while also extending her congratulations to the dynamic vice president, Vasishta Rai, for his leadership and contributions. Farzana from III BCA hosted the inaugural programme, while Vasishta Rai, vice president of computer applications from III BCA, briefed the audience on the day's events. The welcome address was delivered by Smrithi Shetty, a student of II BCA, followed by a vote of thanks from Deeksha, from III BCA.

The fest showcased a total of nineteen competitions, with eight conducted on the event day and the remaining eleven held a week prior. These competitions encompassed various domains such as

1. Innovation sprint (IT manager)

2. Tech ascend launch (product launch)

3. Code heena (mehndi logo)

4. Bit bash bonanza (coding)

5. Byte busters (IT quiz)

6. Code & colours (face painting)

7. Pixel palette (digital poster making)

8. Code-switch (flip)

9. Opti frame (photography)

10. Techno vision (reel making)

11. Cache clash (treasure hunt)

12. The board of brigade (gaming)

13. Voxtopia (singing)

14. Super nova (talent show)

15. Choreo clash (dance drama)

16. Cyber clash (IT debate)

17. Innovate wear (tech walk)

18. Fireless fusion (cooking without fire)

19. Echoes of tomorrow (IT mock press)

Every student of the BCA department participated in at least one event, providing a platform for them to exhibit their talents and skills.

Sr Dr Roopa Rodrigues AC, vice principal of St Agnes College (Autonomous), was the chief guest for the valedictory programme. During this ceremony the top scorers were honored. III BCA ‘A’ Batch emerged as the overall champions and II BCA ‘B’ Batch as the Runners-Up of TECHNOVATE 2024-2025. Malavika Shetty, head of the department of computer applications and fest coordinator, commended the students for their efforts in organizing the fest and expressed gratitude for their active involvement. Nishel from III BCA hosted the valedictory programme.
