NYF: Kudroli Ganesh, Vasundhara Das Take Mangalore by Storm

Mangalore, Jan 17: As an icing on the cake, the 17th National Youth Festival that witnessed a magnificent closing ceremony on Monday January 16, ended with a rocking performance by popular singer Vasundhara Das and famed magician Kudroli Ganesh, both of whom had the audience stunned beyond words.
The five days of spectacle, that saw thousands of people from around the region flocking to Mangalore to be part of the historic moment, had a perfect ending with the fourth musical nite of the event - beginning with a fantastic treat by Colonial Cousins Hariharan and Leslie Lewis, followed by Euphoria that had the entire Mangalore in a spell, to a delectable fusion by Sivamani, Kadri Gopalnath and Pravin Godkhindi, and finally Vasundhara Das and Kudroli Ganesh.
Perhaps, amidst so much of music and dance, the 'Vismaya' magic by Kudroli Ganesh provided a hearty change, as evidenced by the roaring welcome with which the crowd received him. In his quintenssential style, Kudroli Ganesh and his team presented a splendid blend of jaw-dropping magic and local folklore in the form of traditional dance, a trait which had won the team accolades even on national reality show 'India's Got Talent'. It kept the audience not only guessing at the magic tricks, but also provided a splendid visual treat.
Next it was the turn of singing sensation Vasundhara Das who, as expected, took the audience by storm with a performance that Mangalore won't forget for a long time to come. Song after song she had the crowd singing, dancing and screaming along. Her charisma, charm and the magic of her velvety voice swept over the venue, taking each and every person to dizzy heights of revelry.
The jam-packed stadium was treated to the latest numbers, including the very popular and most-remixed 'Kolaveri Di' and many Kannada songs like 'Santoshakke haadu' and 'Gaalipata'. If 'Shakalaka baby' filled the atmosphere with a discotheque mood, the more mellow 'Roobaroo' had everyone swinging along, especially with Vasundhara herself walking right up to the crowd. 'Rabba Rabba' electrified the evening, and the brilliant show was rounded off with 'It's the time to disco', for which the crowd found it impossible to keep their legs on the floor. Truly, Vasundhara gave the audience the time of their lives.
Both artistes were honoured during the musical nite. Indeed, it was a smashing end to five brilliant days of 'music, masti and magic'.
