Mangaluru: Women’s Day celebrated at Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences

Mangaluru, Mar 21: International Women’s Day was celebrated on March 15 at Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences Mukka by ‘AMNA’ the women’s cell of Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, in association with the students' council. The programme was commenced with a prayer by Sinchana, 3rd year BDS student. Dr Apoorva Kamath, president of AMNA welcomed the gathering.

The dean, (Prof) Dr K Reshma Pai who was the presiding officer, spoke on the empowering women and called for gender sensitisation across all sectors of the society.

Shraddha Acharya (3rd year BDS student) and Nayana (non-teaching staff) were both honoured for displaying exemplary strength, courage and perseverance against all odds.
Dr Pooja Naik, secretary of AMNA delivered the vote of thanks.

The formal event was followed by a cultural performance including a demonstration on self-defence by Shraddha Acharya and Hrishikesh (1st year BDS student).

A melodious instrumental percussion and an energetic dance performance by the students, teaching and the nonteaching women staffs were held. Spoorthi and Nashra (3rd year BDS students) were the masters of ceremony.
