Indore, Mar 21: In a tragic turn of events, a 24-year-old woman, Bhavna Singh, succumbed to bullet injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here.
Bhavna sustained a fatal wound near her eye during what police describe as a ‘liquor-fueled revelry’ in the early hours of Thursday. Initial investigations indicate that she was allegedly shot by her companion, Ashu Yadav, after a heated argument at the party.
Sources reveal that Bhavna wished to leave, but Ashu, in a fit of rage, threatened her with a locally-made pistol, known as a katta. Amid the commotion, the gun went off, striking her fatally.
A keychain found at the hospital and CCTV footage provided vital clues, leading police to the suspects' hideout. Four individuals, including Ashu and Mukul Yadav, were present at the gathering. Among them was a woman named Swastika, whose role remains unclear.
Bhavna had recently moved to Indore from Gwalior, aspiring to pursue a beautician’s course. She was residing in a rented apartment in Mahalaxmi Nagar and had befriended Swastika, which led her to this ill-fated party.
The accused have since fled, and police are actively pursuing them. Authorities aim to apprehend them by Saturday to ascertain whether the shooting was accidental or premeditated.
