Kasargod, Mar 22: A nursing student who had attempted suicide four months ago passed away on Saturday, March 22, at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The deceased, Chaitanya Kumari (21) from Panathoor, was a third-year nursing student at a private hospital in Kanjingad.

Chaitanya had ingested poison on December 7 and was admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru in a critical condition. She later received treatment at a private hospital in Kannur and, more recently, was transferred to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

It was reported that the victim had attempted suicide due to mental harassment by the wardens at her hospital.

Her classmates had protested for several days, accusing the warden of bullying her. Numerous organisations and political parties had also joined in the protests, demanding justice for the victim.
