New Delhi, Mar 25: In a major push for women’s empowerment and financial support, the Delhi government has allocated Rs 5,100 cr for the Mahila Samridhi Yojana in its latest budget, ensuring a monthly aid of Rs 2,500 for eligible women.

The scheme aims to provide financial independence to women from economically weaker sections, helping them meet essential expenses and improve their quality of life. The assistance is expected to benefit lakhs of women across the national capital.

• Rs 2,500 per month will be transferred directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts.

• Priority will be given to widows, single mothers, and women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

• The initiative seeks to enhance financial security and encourage women’s participation in socio-economic activities.

Presenting the budget, Finance Minister Atishi Marlena emphasized that this scheme is part of the government’s broader social welfare agenda. "Empowering women economically leads to stronger families and a more progressive society," she stated.
