Mangaluru, Mar 26: Several parts of Dakshina Kannada, including Puttur, Sullia, Bantwal, and Beltangady taluks, received heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms on March 25 evening. Hailstorms were reported in Kalmadka, while Puttur experienced steady showers for over half an hour. Other parts of the district also saw cooler weather during the night.
Mangaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 33.1°C and a minimum of 24.6°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the coastal region on Wednesday, predicting thunderstorms and rainfall in some areas. Beltangady taluk’s Naravi received good rainfall, while Mundaje and Charmadi witnessed light showers. Puttur taluk also experienced significant rainfall, with areas like Vittal, Neralakatte, and Anantady in Bantwal taluk receiving showers.

Several parts of Sullia taluk, including Sullia town, Aranthodu, Sampaje, Bellare, Ivarnadu, Nintikallu, Kalmadka, and Jalsuru, were lashed by thunderstorms and rain on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Strong winds and rain uprooted a coconut tree near Aranthodu School, blocking the road and disrupting traffic. Rubber and areca plantations suffered damage. In Todikana village, hailstorms were reported, and two trees fell on power lines near Doddadka, snapping electric poles. Several areas in Todikana remained in darkness for hours due to power outages.
