Illegal prostitution racket busted in Udupi; one victim rescued

Udupi, Mar 29: Based on confirmed intelligence, the Udupi town police conducted a raid on an illegal prostitution racket operating in a house in Sharada Nagar, Shivalli village, Udupi Taluk. The raid took place on March 28, at around 2:45 pm.

During the operation, the police rescued a victim who had been forced into prostitution. According to reports, a man named Satish had sent the victim from Moodbidri to the house of a woman named Srilatha in Sharada Nagar, Udupi, under the pretense of offering her a job. Upon arrival, Srilatha allegedly coerced the victim into prostitution and confined her in a room.

The police stated that the accused were illegally running a prostitution business for financial gain and had forcibly detained the victim in the house. A case has been registered at the women’s police station, and further investigation is underway.
