Udupi, Jan 17: Both Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji of Puttige Mutt and Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt on Tuesday January 17 stuck to their respective decisions and began their fast over the issue of non-inclusion of Puttige Swamiji in the upcoming Paraya rituals at Sode Mutt.

While Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji began fast at Lord Ananteshwara Temple, supported by a crowd of devotees, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji is going it alone at his Mutt.

It may be recalled that Pejavar Swamiji had expressed his disappointment at the allegations made by Puttige Swamiji of not putting in enough efforts to resolve the crisis arising out of not extending an invitation to the latter to the current Paryaya Darbar by Sode Mutt Swamiji. Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji has since withdrawn his remark, but has welcomed the decision of Pejavar Swamiji to undertake fast, which he claimed, was in support of his demand for recognition and respect.

Speaking to press persons, Puttige Mutt Swamiji, before beginning his fast today, threatened to turn his next Paryaya period into a festival for all the religions by inviting people from all the religions to his Darbar, if the present faceoff is not resolved amicably. He also said that the procession of his Paryaya period will entail religious heads from all the sects within Hinduism seated in palanquins.

With these statements, he has dropped hints that he will break further traditions of Srikrishna Mutt, if Sode Mutt Swamiji refuses to withdraw the unilateral embargo imposed on him by Sode Mutt Swamiji against his participation in Paryaya Darbar, ostensibly for breaking the traditions of the Mutt and crossing the seas.

    @ Gugguru/Mangalore,

I have stated the fundamental truth. Truth is bitter. You cant digest it. So now you are dragging this topic into communual making it as hindu vs muslims. You are living 60 km away from Udupi. i was born and brought up in Udupi and still an Udupite. I am proud of the traditions of Udupi mutts and my city is called as temple city. If something goes wrong in Udupi, it hurts a lot. I didnt drag hindusim here. Whats going on in our Udupi mutts is basically against hinduism. You must understand it first. No where its mentioned that seers should fight during paryaya. Whats emphasised is unity. But ur beloved pejawar seer is breaking the unity and deviding the mutts.

Why other 7 seers of Asht mutts are not into politics? Why this seer alone. Other seers dont know whats their duty is???? You hypocrite....

I too join with Mr. Shahnawaz Kukkikatte. I am proud to be an old student of Adman Junior College. I can still remember Admar Mutt Seer, who use to visit class rooms and he was an inspiration for the students. He never discussed about RSS, he never bothered about Rama Mandir in Ayodhya and he never worried about BJP's internal clashes and he never had any criminal followers like Uma Bhrati and if i am right, he never took any donations from Nira Radia as PEJAVAR SEER had.

No doubt Puttige mutt swamiji's contribution to be recognized but fasting is not a solution where it invites only politics like seniors...... Let us pray for amicable settlement and have a pious paryaya. Long live paryaya.

This is my reply to the comments of Mr. Mohan against the Brahmins, published yesterday.

Nowadays, people consider the welfare as only economic welfare. But, the spiritual welfare is far greater than economic welfare as it is limitless.

Brahmins like Samarth Ramdas and Swami Vidyaranya guided Shivaji and Harihara-Bukka [Vijayanagar]respectively, in re-establishing Hindu Kingdoms which protected the Hindus against the barbaric foreign invadors.

Because of such great souls we are living with dignity in this country.

There are innumerable Brahmins who have contributed to the spiritual, political and social welfare of this country without any expectation.

Recognising the importance of Brahmins, the foreign invadors tried to destroy the Brahmins in order to destroy Hinduism.

In spite of all these adversities, the Brahmins are still observing basic tenets of Hinduism whereas all other Varnas have succumbed to the atrocities and pressures of the foreign invadors.

Both swamiji should stop this thamasha immediately and accept Sri Puttige swamiji as you equals.
Pejavar swamiji should resign from all Sangh Parivar connections and totally concentrate on the well being of the humanity because Sri Krishna Temple belongs to all the Hindus and devotees from other faith that belongs to different political parties.

I am even today a patron and fan of late Admar Mutt seer who has pioneered education system and dedicated his entire life to education without seeking any fame or without being in politics. Those who has will do good shall do it without political backing. Late respected Admar mutt seer was a non controversial person. May his soul rest in eternal peace. We have heard about Admar Mutt education council. Has any one heard about Pejawar mutt education council??? This pejawar swami dedicated his life not only to spread hatred between different faiths and now deviding his own clergies and his owm community people. Strange but very true. This is the true face of this seer.

Jamir Ahmed [JDS] broke glasses to demand recognition for Jaffer Sheriff. This is materialistic life.

Swamijis are observing fast to get their right in the Paryara celebration and not for any materialistic life.
