Car overturns at Agumbe Ghat’s seventh bend; couple escapes unharmed

Udupi, March 30: A Renault Triber overturned at the seventh bend of Agumbe Ghat, but the couple inside the vehicle miraculously escaped without major injuries. The incident occurred on Sunday, March 30.

The car was travelling from Udupi to Shivamogga when a tipper truck suddenly blocked its path. In a bid to avoid a collision, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which overturned at the sharp curve.

Although the impact severely damaged the car’s roof, no casualties have been reported. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.

    Has the car driver overdriven in the Ghats? The tipper may be going slow or stopping, so it needs to be slow on the Ghats road.

    First please ban the movement of tippers in ghat road They drive recklessly and cause accidents. I don't know why RTO and Police department leaving tippers in narrow roads. Pls i request all the authorities to check this and take action as soon as possible

    Ofcourse tippers are a menace. No denying that at all. But the car driver looks like he too is a first time car owner. He definitely would have been speeding too. How else would anyone explain a car turning turtle on the way up a ghat section like agumbe? But all said and done neither the police nor the RTO are doing anything to curb the tipper menace. It looks like they share a very friendly relationship with each other. Everyone else knows where they smuggle sand from except the police. Check out the road between EDMIR to Athradi, tippers overloaded with lime stones drive on a single road like they are going to kill someone. But no one is bothered. Very unfortunate.
