Mangaluru, Apr 1: The acclaimed theatre group Astitva (R) Mangaluru, which has won recognition at various national and international theatre festivals, is set to stage the play Mattiah 22:39 on April 3 at 7 pm at St Aloysius (Deemed to be) University premises.
The play has previously been performed at prestigious festivals, including the Serendipity Arts Festival in Goa, the MWIHUR International Theatre Festival in Assam, the International Theatre Festival organized by the National School of Drama, Delhi, and the renowned META Theatre Awards competition. After its debut in Mangaluru last year, the play toured multiple states and is now returning to the city with a unique stage design.





Renowned Kerala-based director Arun Lal has directed the play, with actors Clanwin and Kumar Lal in lead roles. The music composition is by Anush Shetty and his team, while Joel Lobo handles the music arrangements. The lighting design and execution are by Christie. The original story by T Kochubava has been translated for the stage by Dr Sudhakumari.
The play is produced under the Rangavikasa project of the Mysuru-based theatre group Nirdiganta and is being organized by Astitva (R) Mangaluru under the leadership of Alwyn Serao. The event is being held in collaboration with the Centre for Theatre Studies and the Kannada Department of St Aloysius (Deemed to be) University.
Entry to the play is free, and the organizers have announced that the performance will begin promptly at the scheduled time without any formal inaugural ceremony.
