Beltangady, Apr 4: A vehicle illegally transporting cattle to Mangaluru was intercepted early in the morning on Friday near Jarigebailu in Kaliya Nayatarpu. The vehicle, which was purportedly meant for vegetable transportation, was found carrying around 10 to 15 cows, allegedly for slaughter.

Acting on a tip-off, members of a right-wing organization pursued the vehicle and stopped it. However, the driver managed to flee the scene before he could be apprehended.

Following a complaint, Beltangady police took the vehicle and more than 15 cattle into custody for further investigation and legal action.
