Udupi, Jan 18: The entire town was bedecked with colourful lights for Sode Paryaya festival on Tuesday January 17 night. Different organizations set up stages at various locations in the city, where night-long entertainment programmes were held for the benefit of people who have come to the town for Paryaya festival.

To commemorate Paryaya festival seven chariots were pulled through Car Street at night. Fireworks lit up the night sky, providing a beautiful visual treat.

On behalf of Sode Swamiji Paryaya Reception Committee, Sri Lakshmivarateertha Swamiji of Shirur Mutt was felicitated on the night of January 17 at a function organized at Car Street here.

Sri Lakshmivarateertha Swamiji, whose two year Paryaya period has just ended, handed over the customary items including Akshaya Patre on Wednesday morning to the spiritual head of Sode Mutt, Sri Vishwavallabhateertha Swamiji, signifying transfer of rights to perform puja of Lord Srikrishna for a period of two years from today.

The felicitation function was attended among others, by Sri Vishwavallabhateertha Swamiji, minister, Dr V S Acharya, MLA, Raghupati Bhat, and municipal president, Kiran Kumar.

    Puthige Swamijis was invited for the Paraya or not? C M should have interfered n should bought all Asta mutts together. All devotees want to see them together. Pejawar Swamijis should have honored for breaking the unity of Asta Mutt.
