Dubai - Mangalore AI Express Cancels Wednesday Flight

Mangalore, Jan 18: With the Indian aviation industry battling economic crisis, domestic as well as international passengers continued to face inconvenience due to cancellation, delay in flights.

According to the latest report, Mangalore - Dubai Air India Express flight scheduled to leave at 9.30pm on Wednesday January 18, stands cancelled due to 'technical' reason. The same aircraft which was scheduled to leave Dubai airport at 1.15am on Thursday, Jan 19 is also cancelled.

All the Mangalore passengers will be accommodated on Thursday noon and evening flights. Same will be done for Dubai passengers.

Daijiworld has learnt from sources close to Air India office in Dubai that lack of enough pilots are causing these cancellations, as a pilot has pulled off from flying at the last moment presenting 'sick leave' reason. Since there was no substitute pilot available, flight had to be cancelled.

It is gathered that Air India Express has informed all the passengers in advance, and made adequate arrangement to fly in next day's flight.

Guys, there is no point in blaming. lets all get our inner Anna and stop using the AIE to mangalore. lets suffer for some time to smile for the rest of the time. if everyone stops indian Govt will be forced to allow other flights.

I have used most major Airlines in the world for my travels. Air India,along with its state controlled cousin in Russia Aeroflot are definitely the worst of all. Even Aeroflot provides better service in flights to Western Europe and US.

it is high time to encourage foreign investment in our airline industry.
govt should look into this on an very urgent basis.Flights get cancelled but every other day it should not happen,and also the reason that the pilot is sick is not digestive.no backup pilot is there.cause of one persons 250 odd persons are troubled.it is not done.let Emirates or Ethihad airlines get into the invest in indian airline sector.hope this happens very soon............

Comparing with other air lines internally or international level our airinida is one of the worst and unsafe airline in the world.No care about the passenger. If some one lose their life and injured then there is no respect no value. Such incidents will become a side income for the officials which now they already doing with Mangalore crash victims family. For point of view airinida is no safe for me or for my beloved family and same advising to you all dear. Don't choose airindia flight any more.

Louis, Kuwait you might be knowing that more importance is given to bigger cities first, but the Mlore four lane project was sanctioned during NDA rule and congress UPA govt took 7 long years to complete the roads, still not completed. Also shifting offices to Manipal is a problem to you?? I dont think so it's a problem because so many buses available from Udupi to go to Manipal.

Mangalore AI Express flight was cancelled just because a pilot called in sick. It is ridiculous utter ridiculous on part of Air India. This the airline will loose many passengers. With this kind of cancellation you are putting passengers in jeopardy. There might have been passengers who is supposed to join work for the fist time or someone who is resuming duty after vacation. Wake up AIR INDIA and work efficiently.

Hello everyone......isnt it funny when AI delays or cancells flights everybody commenting or talking against AI? Why you people dont complain or talk against private airlines when they cancell or delay the flights? For the first time went in King fisher flight and the whole journey was unforgettable....delays of flight no food or no announcement of delays and rudeness of staff was unreal....and i saw there is not even one person stood up and questioned the staff....funny the flight was from dubai to mangalore via bangalore..... i was shocked to see pvt airlines treatments for thier guests.... I would imagine and accept the fact AI is far better than King fisher.....

payers are burning money every day.

Dear Dinesh, I indeed agree that highway project was started by NDA in Mumbai n from Mumbai to Pune but why did the NDA started Banglore Pune n not Kundapur Manglore 1st? This u need to ask Mr. Vajpayee? Kundapur to Manglore stretch is most congested road in whole of India if u exclude city's. Despite losing election Jaya Prakash Hegde had fought with central
UPA govt to develope this stretch and within a year it will completed. Money is on hold until Udupi - chick Manglore election, if congress loose forget the highway. So vote for Congress u will get the road. DVS sitting MP has done nothing for this constiuency. Udupi to Manipal developments are from MLA Bhat. He want shift all govt offices to Manipal instead Udupi for his own interest. People have to catch one more bus to get the work done.

Congress is solely responsible for Bangalore traffic. After BJP came into power many improvements have been made like flyovers, good public transport, connecting roads, widening of roads etc. In 3.5 years they have done a lot. Metro work is expedited by BJP and by the end of this year, I phase will be complete..

Congress would have taken 30-40 years to complete 40 KMs stretch of Blore Metro.

Banaglore - Mangalore railway line was completed 35 years after its sanction.

The recent Guage conversion took around 14 years for congress govt.

What else proof you want?

Our own Muniyappa extended Bangalore train to kannur and he is taking steps to extend Mumbai - Mlore Junction train to Kerala.

Muniyappa does not have platform availability at Mangalore Central for K'taka bound trains. For Kerala bound trains he will make the platforms available. He is best fit to become PA for Sonia Gandhi. Poor fellow is now pressurizing DVS for Nethravathi diversion..

Mangalore airport is 60 yrs old. Still not made Intl. Moily's paper is ready, no one is approving..

Congress people are utter dumb and useless to this country. They may try serving Italy people since they have got some experience here..

Rajesh, mangalore i think you dont know the area and population of Bangalore. Bangalore is nearly 20 times bigger than bangalore both areawise and populationwise. The ant lines in Bangalore is due to high population and heavy traffic. Here the roads are broad when campare to Mangalore. The ant lines problem in Mangalore is only due to the half pending road works.

NDA has been out of power at the center since 2004. In state BJP government is busy fighting for chair. I don't know which NDA government is building the roads ? All roads in Udupi and Managalore either have patch works or deep holes. Edges of the roads are deep. There are no footpaths. We can't praise anybody jusy because they done something. We deserve better, so let's not praise NDA for their chillar contributions and take sides. Compare these roads to foreign roads, and one will see how our parties make mockery of of our democracy.

During NDA rule a superb four lane road (NH4) was laid from Bangalore - Pune. UPA came to power in 2004 and only changed Vajapayee's photos on the sides of the road and did nothing.

I know the doubling of NH17 between Surathkal and Kundapura. Do you know when was NH17 established? Do you know the traffic in NH17? After 4:30PM the trucks are plying one by one like ants line. Sometimes to cross the road we need to wait for few minutes.

If doubling is happening for 90KM stretch after so many years, it is not the great thing. This should have happened at least 20 years before.

Why only till Kundapura? Till Karwar the road is very congested and bad. UPA just started work for 90 KM. What about rest 250 KM? When will that happen?

Hon. Aviation Minister has sanctioned a proposal for FDI in aviation industry which offers a glimmer of a hope. With the such a big financial crunch, even the safety of the passengers could be at jeopardy due to flying by under qualified pilots, lack of proper maintenance etc. Unless the financial mess is cleared up, employees paid on time, we should accept these disarrays every other week!!Nobody can be blamed for this, but we the poor tax payers are at the receiving end, but whom to complain except God the Almighty!!

"NH17 is the most dangerous national highway in India". UPA ministers have kept silent on this.

Nagesh, for your kind information, India is run by burocrats, ministers qualification has nothing to do with his performance or vice-versa, the indian railways performed well under Lalu, frankly no one gives him credit for it. There are exceptions in Dr. Manmohan Singh, likewise Late mr. Pramod mahajan was no champion of IT or telecom, but was handling the portfolio, and Mr. Jaswant Singh was from the armed forces but did a good job in Foreign affairs and Finance.Its a persons stature, command, will and efforts to reform sectors, and yes if he is qualified in the same field its only an added advantage.

The airline industry is in a big financial crisis. Most of the airlines have not been paying salary to the staff for more than 2 months. KFA is on the verge of closure due to heavy debt and about 50 pilots have gone on leave. What can either party do until money is infused by someone and the crisis is resolved!!

If the pilot is SICK, they must have alternate arrangements. How can they cancel the flight? Can they depend on single pilot always? This is the complete failure of Aviation Ministry.

Whatever may me the qualification of Mr.Ajit Singh. But he proved to be useless here.. His IIT, MS does not come into picture here. He has got the qualifications to deliver, but he is not delivering..

NRI (Non resident Italian) lead UPA should take the complete responsibility of this..

Dear Nagesh, You wanted to know the qualification of Mr.Ajit Singh. He did his Bsc, B Tech and MS from the Lucknow University, IIT Kharagpur and Illinois Institute of Technology,Chicago, USA. May I know what is your qualification to raise this question???

i am very disappointed with AIR INDIA EXPRESS when ever i flew by A.I.E there has been problems. i wished there could have been some other filghts also flying to mangalore, that would have been great.. for every one... pls pls pls .........

nagesh dude, what has Ajith Singh's qualification to do with a pilot reporting sick to work.......get your basics right, the issue we need to address is encouraging foreign investment in this sector, which will be tabled sson before the cabinet, many airlines expanded and tried to florish with faults business plans.You learn from mistakes, if you cant mprove things please dont term others as pseudos. Do something meanigful before critisizing as it is the easist thing to do.. there are plenty of faults in the karnataka state govt.. tooo... but there is a need and scope for improvment and negotiations.

As this is the only direct flight from dubai to mangalore many will affect. Very sad news and hope government will take necessary steps to end the crisis.
