Mangaluru, Apr 11: In a tragic incident reported on Friday, a man lost his life after falling from a coconut tree while tapping toddy at Kanneeruthota near Kolya in Ullal.

The deceased has been identified as Yashodhar (46), a resident of Balya Nadupolike, Kanneeruthota, Kolya.

The incident occurred on Friday morning when Yashodhar was engaged in toddy tapping near a plantation close to his house. He reportedly lost balance and fell from the tree, sustaining severe injuries. Though he was immediately rushed to the hospital in a critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Yashodhar had been working as a toddy tapper for several years. It is suspected that the fall might have occurred due to a recurrence of low blood pressure, a condition that had caused him to lose consciousness during work in the past.

He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter. Yashodhar was considered the backbone of his family.
