New Delhi, Apr 11: India is rapidly cementing its status as a global technology hub, with its digital public infrastructure (DPI) and growing international collaborations being hailed by top global experts at the Global Technology Summit held in the national capital on Friday.

On the sidelines of the high-profile event, experts from Australia, Sweden, and Europe commended India’s leadership in shaping the future of global technology, stressing the importance of cooperation and shared innovation.

Brendan Dowling, Australia’s Ambassador for Cyber Affairs and Critical Technology, described the summit as a “prominent global event” that connects policymakers, industry leaders, and think tanks to explore the interplay between technology and geopolitics.

“This summit has become a really prominent global event. It brings together policymakers and industry think tanks to talk about geopolitics and technology,” Dowling said.

He underlined that technology is now central to global safety, security, and prosperity, and that India’s skilled ICT workforce and vibrant software industry make it a crucial player in advancing international tech capabilities. He also expressed optimism about deepening India-Australia bilateral cooperation in technology, calling it a natural synergy given both countries’ strengths.

Jon Simonsson, Senior Director at the Swedish Prime Minister’s Office, highlighted the need for collaboration in technological innovation, stating that most breakthroughs today require collective efforts across nations, industries, academia, and public institutions.

Calling the summit an “excellent platform”, Simonsson said it fosters shared understanding and opens doors for joint research and development projects.

Meanwhile, Janka Oertel, Director of the Asia Programme and Senior Policy Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, praised India’s inclusive approach to tech development. She particularly noted India’s active engagement with the Global South, Europe, and the United States as part of a broader effort to ensure equitable growth in technology.

“India has laid out an ambitious agenda, especially in the realm of digital public infrastructure. This momentum could lead to meaningful collaboration between India, Europe, and other regions,” Oertel told.

She added that the summit serves as a critical forum for tackling both the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies in today’s interconnected world.

As India continues to lead the way in digital innovation, cybersecurity, and public tech infrastructure, the summit reaffirmed its rising status as a key player in global tech diplomacy — with experts lauding its role in shaping the narrative for inclusive and collaborative technological development.
