Chennai, Apr 12: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin launched a blistering attack on the AIADMK on Saturday, accusing the party’s leadership of compromising Tamil Nadu’s interests in exchange for protection from central agencies.
In a strongly worded statement, Stalin alleged that the AIADMK turned to the BJP for cover after central agencies conducted raids targeting relatives of its office-bearers. “The moment pressure mounted, they ran to the BJP. In return, they were forced into an alliance. This very alliance is a scam — held together by corruption,” he said.
Calling the AIADMK-BJP partnership a “recycled failure,” Stalin claimed it had been repeatedly rejected by Tamil Nadu voters in multiple elections. He also criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for reviving the alliance without any clear ideological foundation or justification.
“All we’ve heard from Amit Shah is talk of a Common Minimum Programme (CMP), but there’s no clarity on what it stands for,” Stalin noted, questioning whether the CMP would include the AIADMK’s earlier opposition to issues like NEET, the Waqf (Amendment) Act, or the delimitation plans that threaten to reduce Tamil Nadu’s Lok Sabha representation.
“He didn’t address a single issue vital to the people of this state. Instead, he launched attacks on the DMK, our government, and me personally,” Stalin said.
Emphasizing the DMK’s commitment to federalism and Tamil identity, Stalin accused the AIADMK of abandoning both for political survival. “The BJP is trying to undermine Tamil Nadu through imposition of Hindi and unfair delimitation. And the AIADMK has chosen to become their puppet, handing over Tamil Nadu’s self-respect to Delhi,” he charged.
He concluded with a warning: “The people of Tamil Nadu will not forget this betrayal. They will respond with the power of the ballot.”
