Udupi, Apr 10: In a significant decision, Udupi Sri Krishna Matha has announced a ban on pre-wedding and post-wedding photoshoots within the Rathabeedi (chariot street) premises. The announcement was made by the Paryaya Puttige Mutt administration.
The decision aims to prevent awkward situations, especially during early morning hours and during the movement of the Swamijis around the temple premises.

The Rathabeedi of Krishna Matha is lined with traditional heritage structures. However, in recent times, early mornings have witnessed inappropriate behavior under the guise of pre-wedding and post-wedding photoshoots. Instances of couples engaging in intimate moments during photoshoots have been reported, particularly with an influx of photographers from Kerala and Bengaluru, according to temple authorities.
The Rathabeedi is a revered pathway, where the pontiffs and devotees of the Ashta Mutts have walked for centuries. It holds immense religious significance and hosts daily processions and festivities. Authorities observed that the presence of couples engaged in photoshoots was disrupting the sacred atmosphere.
Officials emphasized that the Rathabeedi is a place where religious rituals and cultural practices are observed daily. Allowing romantic photoshoots in such a sacred environment creates a stark contradiction and disturbs the sanctity of the surroundings.
Given the growing instances of such disruptions, the temple administration stated that strict measures had become necessary to preserve the sanctity and religious spirit of the Rathabeedi.
