Wife's suicide: Techie husband confesses to illicit relationship with former lover

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, April 13: Techie Basheer Ullah has finally confessed to the police that his illicit relationship with his former lover was the reason behind his wife's suicide.

Recently, homemaker Bahar Asma had taken her own life by hanging herself, allegedly due to her husband’s extramarital affair. Asma had accused her husband of being unfaithful. Following her death, her parents alleged that techie Basheer Ullah had murdered their daughter and was trying to portray it as a suicide.

Based on a complaint, police registered an FIR against Basheer Ullah under charges of abetment to suicide, arrested him, and began an investigation. During questioning, Basheer confessed to having had an extramarital affair with his former girlfriend.

He reportedly told police, “Yes, I was involved in an illicit relationship. She (Asma) could not tolerate it and would often get into arguments with me. Since I ignored her emotional distress, she became deeply hurt and ended her life.”

According to police sources, Basheer had lost touch with his college sweetheart after marriage. However, the two reconnected after his wedding, and from then on, he began neglecting his wife and rekindled a relationship with his former lover. This has also been admitted by Basheer during interrogation by Hebbal Police, sources said.
