Bantwal: Ambedkar is a global icon, miracle man, says MLA Rajesh Naik

Bantwal, Apr 14: Dr B R Ambedkar is a miracle man revered by the entire world, said Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik, while inaugurating the 134th birth anniversary celebrations of the architect of the Indian Constitution, held at Ambedkar Bhavan, B C Road.

The event was organised under the joint aegis of the Bantwal taluk administration, taluk panchayat, and department of social welfare.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Naik urged that Ambedkar Jayanti should not be limited to annual celebrations alone. "Everyone should strive to imbibe the ideals of Dr Ambedkar in their lives," he said. He also announced that he would allocate funds from his MLA quota for the development and maintenance works of Ambedkar Bhavan.

Gunashree, a student of Kepu Kallangala Higher Primary School, delivered a speech highlighting the life and contributions of Dr Ambedkar.

The event was attended by Bantwal municipal council president Vasupoojari, BUDA chairman Baby Kundar, Guarantee Committee chairperson Jayanti Poojari, Bantwal tahsildar Archana Bhat, taluk panchayat executive officer Sachin Kumar, district vigilance committee representative Mohan, and block education officer Manjunathan M G.

The programme began with a welcome address by Sunitha, assistant director of the department of social welfare. Laxman delivered the vote of thanks, and the event was compered by Pradeep.

Prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions held as part of the celebrations.
