Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School commemorates Ambedkar Jayanthi with reverence

Mangaluru, Apr 14: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru solemnly commemorated Dr B R Ambedkar Jayanthi on Monday, April 14, through a series of meaningful programmes conducted by students from both the secondary and primary sections. The celebrations paid tribute to the remarkable life, legacy and ideals of Dr B R Ambedkar, India’s chief architect of the Constitution and a tireless advocate for justice and equality. The programme was conducted by the students of grade IX A.

The programme began with a serene prayer service by the students, setting a reflective tone for the event. This was followed by the thought for the day, featuring Dr. Ambedkar’s powerful words: “Cultivation of mind should be the ultimate aim of human existence,” which served as the guiding theme for the programme.

To honour Dr Ambedkar, a floral tribute and garlanding of his portrait was carried out by principal Sr Melissa, vice principal Sr Teena, teacher Bharathi, and student representative to the tune of a patriotic song. The students presented the significance of the day which highlighted Dr Ambedkar as a visionary leader, champion of human rights, architect of the Indian Constitution, and a lifelong inspiration for social reform, national unity, and progress.

Principal Sr Melissa, in her address, urged students to uphold Dr Ambedkar’s ideals of equality, fraternity, justice, and harmony, and encouraged them to be beacons of hope and agents of change in the society. The programme concluded with a solemn rendition of the National Anthem, uniting all in patriotic spirit.

This was followed by a vibrant celebration by students of Grade 1 to 5 in the auditorium. The event opened with a melodious prayer song, followed by a warm welcome by Sweedal and Namasvi, who also introduced the chief guest, teacher Molly.

A respectful floral tribute was paid to Dr Ambedkar by chief guest Tr Molly, administrator Sr Carissima and the section coordinators. In her inspiring address, Molly spoke about Dr Ambedkar’s humble beginnings, his pioneering role in nation-building, and the enduring value of his contributions to Indian society.

Administrator Sr Carissima also addressed the students, advising them to be educated, responsible, and to live in unity, thus echoing the core values championed by Dr Ambedkar. The event was smoothly compered by Drushan, Diya and Anya, and came to a graceful close with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Sudhaneva.
