Kasargod, Apr 15: In a shocking incident reported from Bedadka in Kasargod, a 22-year-old woman who was undergoing treatment for severe burn injuries at a hospital in Mangaluru succumbed to her injuries. The victim was allegedly set on fire by a miscreant in an act of revenge after she filed a police complaint against him.
The deceased has been identified as Ramitha (22) of Bedadka, who ran a shop in Mannadka. The incident occurred on April 8. The accused, identified as Ramakrith (57), a native of Tamil Nadu and owner of a nearby furniture store, had allegedly committed the heinous act.

According to sources, Ramakrith, who was often in an inebriated state, had been harassing Ramitha. Following repeated instances of harassment, Ramitha had filed a complaint against him at the Bedadka police station. Enraged by the complaint, the accused reportedly entered her grocery store around 3 pm on April 8, poured thinner on her, and set her ablaze.
Despite being rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru with critical burn injuries, Ramitha succumbed to her injuries on Monday night.
Eyewitnesses stated that after committing the act, the accused attempted to flee but was caught by local residents and handed over to the police.
