Poonch, Apr 15: A brief but intense exchange of fire broke out between terrorists and security forces late Monday night in Lasana village of Surankote, Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The encounter occurred during a joint search operation by security forces and local police, launched based on credible inputs about terrorist presence in the area.

"Contact was established with terrorists during a joint operation with Police at Lasana, Surankote last night. Additional troops have been inducted, and search operations are ongoing to prevent the terrorists from escaping," stated the Army's White Knight Corps on social media platform X.

One Army personnel sustained injuries during the exchange and was promptly evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment. The area remains under a security cordon, with combing operations continuing in full swing to neutralize the threat.
