Jaipur, Apr 15: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday raided the residence of former Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas in connection with the PACL investment fraud case, triggering sharp reactions from Congress leaders who accused the BJP of misusing central agencies for political vendetta.
Leader of the Opposition Tika Ram Jully said, “Khachariyawas is being targeted for raising his voice against the BJP. This misuse of agencies is highly condemnable.”

The case involves PACL Ltd., which allegedly defrauded around 28 lakh people in Rajasthan of Rs 2,850 cr. Nationally, the company collected about Rs 49,100 cr from investors. Sources said Khachariyawas is being probed for possible financial links to the scam.
Khachariyawas, however, remained defiant. “I will never be scared. The BJP is shielding its own scams and targeting those who expose them,” he said.
Congress leaders including Ashok Gehlot, Govind Singh Dotasra, and Sachin Pilot rallied behind him, calling the raid an act of political revenge.
Dotasra claimed Khachariyawas was targeted for questioning the Rs 100 cr IIFA expenditure. “He is the lion of Congress and will not back down,” he added.
Pilot said the action reflects the misuse of agencies to silence opposition voices and vowed that the Congress would continue defending democratic values.
