Bomb threat emails trigger panic in 4 UP districts, ayodhya ram temple also targeted

Lucknow, Apr 15: A wave of panic gripped several districts in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday after bomb threat emails were received by collectorate offices in Firozabad, Aligarh, Barabanki, and Chandauli, prompting immediate evacuations and full-scale security inspections. In a separate but equally disturbing incident, the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust in Ayodhya also received a threatening email warning of an attack on the newly consecrated Ram temple.

Authorities in all four districts acted swiftly after the threat messages were received on the official email IDs of district magistrates. Bomb disposal squads, anti-sabotage units, dog squads, and local police teams carried out exhaustive checks of the premises. Fortunately, no explosives or suspicious objects were found during the searches.

In Aligarh, a senior police official told, “Soon after the email was received, the district magistrate’s office was evacuated. The premises were searched thoroughly as per protocol.” Similar scenes unfolded in Barabanki, where the threat email specifically mentioned RDX being planted inside the collectorate building.

Barabanki city circle officer Sumit Tripathi stated, “The source and authenticity of the email remain under investigation. We are examining whether this was an act of mischief or part of a larger conspiracy.”

In Firozabad, the district magistrate’s office received a comparable threat, leading to prompt emergency response. Meanwhile, Chandauli DM Nikhil Tikaram Funde revealed that the sender had identified himself as “Gopal Swami” and had allegedly linked the email to political issues in Tamil Nadu. “The address mentioned was from Tamil Nadu, and we immediately launched a full-scale search of the premises. While the content appeared frivolous, we took no chances,” he said.

The cyber cell in Tamil Nadu has been contacted to assist in tracing the origin of the email and identifying the individual behind the hoax.

Separately, in Ayodhya, the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust received a threatening email late Monday, warning of an attack on the Ram temple. Following a complaint filed by Mahesh Kumar, the trust’s accounts officer, the cyber police cell has launched a probe. Additional security patrols have been deployed in the temple complex, with electronic surveillance and thorough checks conducted in the surrounding areas.

This is not the first time threats have been issued to the trust. Ever since the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol, the temple has received multiple threats, including from Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu.

Police across districts remain on high alert as cyber teams continue their efforts to track down the origin of both the collectorate threats and the email targeting the Ram temple.
