‘Sandalwood to Bollywood’ cultural show in Dubai captivates audience

Dubai, Apr 16: The vibrant cultural extravaganza ‘Sandalwood to Bollywood’ organised by Dubai-based company ACME Building Materials, under the leadership of renowned entrepreneur and singer Harish Sherigar, mesmerised audiences with a blend of soulful music, energetic dance, and delightful comedy on Saturday. The event was held at the Swiss International School in Al Jaddaf, Dubai.

From start to finish, the event had the audience thoroughly engaged, living up to its title and offering a musical journey from Sandalwood (Kannada cinema) to Bollywood.

A musical treat unfolded through the melodious voices of several noted singers, enthralling the thousands of music lovers who had gathered for the show.

The event was formally inaugurated with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by Vakwadi Praveen Kumar Shetty, managing director of Dubai Fortune Group of Hotels; Narayan Devadiga, director of Basti Al Muktha Construction Group; organiser Harish Sherigar, and his wife Sharmila Harish Sherigar.

Also present on stage were entrepreneur Gunashil Shetty and singer Naveed Magundi. Renowned journalists Vishweshwar Bhat, editor of Vishwavani, and Ravi Hegde, editor-in-chief of Kannada Prabha and Asianet Suvarna News, graced the occasion as chief guests.

Harish Sherigar captivated the audience by performing popular hits in Hindi, Kannada, and Tulu, transporting listeners into a world of musical nostalgia.

Performances by artistes including Naveed Magundi, Nayana Rajgopal, Akshatha Rao, Joseph Mathias, Gunashil Shetty, Vignesh, Suresh Devadiga, Dr Pushparaj Shetty, and Sannidhi Shetty added rich variety and charm to the evening. Rajgopal and his musical team further elevated the experience with their dynamic ensemble.

The Dubai-based dance group Soul & Beats VM Crew left the audience spellbound with their high-energy routines. Adding a dose of laughter to the evening was the Gammat Kalaavidaru troupe from Dubai, who staged the Tulu comedy play ‘Gammate Gammat’ directed by ‘Ranga Sarathi’ Vishwanath Shetty, leaving the audience in peals of laughter.

The entire event was seamlessly anchored by Sweeny D’Souza and Tanseef, who kept the programme lively and well-coordinated throughout.
