Vasco, Apr 16: A silver umbrella, valued at Rs 5.37 lac, was discovered at Vasco railway station on Monday evening. The object was found inside an abandoned bag wrapped in a bedsheet during routine patrolling at around 5:30 pm by personnel from Vasco Railway Police Station and RPF staff.

Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain a white metal object resembling a traditional silver umbrella (Chattra). To verify its authenticity, the railway authorities sought the assistance of Shagun Jewellers, who confirmed the object to be made of 87.50% pure silver, weighing approximately 6.4 kilos.

The umbrella was secured under a formal panchanama, in accordance with Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, 2023. The authorities have launched an investigation to trace its origin and identify its rightful owner.
