Bengaluru, Apr 18: A youth who allegedly flashed at a homemaker and assaulted several residents in a Bengaluru locality has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody, police said on Friday.

The accused, identified as Karthik, reportedly exposed himself to a woman while she was walking on the second floor of her home on April 13. Karthik, who lives in a house opposite the victim’s residence in Shivajinagar, also allegedly made obscene gestures and behaved in a sexually inappropriate manner.

When the shocked woman raised an alarm, her husband and neighbours rushed to the scene. Karthik, enraged by their intervention, allegedly attacked them using flowerpots, hollow bricks and glass windowpanes. Seven people were reportedly injured in the assault, three of whom are said to be in the Intensive Care Unit.

The police said that the accused also assaulted his own mother when she questioned him about the incident.

During preliminary questioning, Karthik claimed he was urinating when the woman saw him. However, investigations have revealed that he is a repeat offender with a history of misbehaving with women in the area.

A case has been registered at the Shivajinagar police station.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident of harassment caught on video in another part of the city, the Karnataka Police have arrested 26-year-old Santosh Daniel from Kerala. He was identified as the man who sexually harassed a woman walking along a residential street. The video of the incident, which shows him pushing aside one woman and groping another before fleeing, had gone viral earlier this week.
