Mangalore: International Kite Festival to Feature Participants from 7 Countries

Mangalore, Jan 19: An International Kite Festival to be hosted by Team Mangalore will be held at Panambur beach here on Saturday January 21 and Sunday January 22.

Addressing a press meet here on Thursday January 19, co-ordinator of Team Mangalore Giridhar Kamath said that there will be 17 participants from 7 countries.

Among the international participants will be Andrew Beattie of UK and Al-Farsi Team of Kuwait.

City police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, ONGC director (technical) P P Upadhyaya, and Karnataka Bank managing director P Jayaram Bhat will grace the opening ceremony.

The two-day festival will also witness some of the popular kites by Team Mangalore, like Yaksha, Kathakali, Bhoota Kola, Gajaraja and Pushpaka Vimana which have won them accolades in international kite festivals around the world. The team will also showcase its new 'Avatar Bird Kite'.

A special attraction will be the night kite-flying event on Sunday at 7 pm, wherein kites will be flown amid high power lights.

Besides, there will an exhibition of kites on the second day of the event on the theme 'My Kite to God', featuring kites made by differently-abled children.

Among those present were Team Mangalore members Sarvesh Rao, Dinesh Holla and Nithin Shetty.

    The INTERNATIONAL KITE FESTIVAL show to be held at Panambur beach will be very a nice attraction for everyone who will be watching. The kite with different animated balloon shaped kites will be a great attraction. I wish the organizers all the very best and good luck to all those who will participate in the festival to be held on Saturday 21,2012 and Sunday 22,2012. The night kite-flying on Sunday 22,2012 should be worth watching event with 17 participants from 7 countries. Good pictures DAIJIWORLD. Hope to see more during and after the festival.
