Bihar to Conduct First Industrial Survey

Patna, Jan 19 (IANS): Bihar will begin in March its first survey of industrial units to assess the industrial scenario in the state and to frame measures to attract investments, an official said Thursday.

The survey will collect information about industrial units including micro, small, medium and large enterprises.

"The survey will be completed by June," official Jitendra Kumar Sinha said.

The government will appoint retired officials of National Sample Survey Organisation for the work.

The survey will throw light on the number of functional industrial units, employment generated by them, level of investments and production and exports.

This data would help the government to frame policies and initiative for industrial development, Sinha said.

Bihar Industry Minister Renu Kumaeri Kishwaha said industrialists were showing keen interest in Bihar after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar initiated steps to develop the state's infrastructure.

Last year, a 30-page report of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) pointed that the state was keen on promoting the investment climate.
