Rahul Gandhi lacks courtesy to uphold India's dignity abroad: Karnataka BJP chief Vijayendra

Daijiworld Media Network - Gadag

Gadag, Apr 22: Karnataka BJP President and MLA B Y Vijayendra launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, accusing him of lacking basic courtesy and making disparaging remarks about India while speaking on foreign soil.

Addressing media persons in Gadag, Vijayendra said, “That noble soul, Rahul Gandhi, seems to have no understanding of how to speak about his own country when overseas.” Referring to the Congress MP’s recent speech in the United States, the BJP leader called his remarks insulting and irresponsible, particularly coming from the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

Vijayendra also strongly objected to Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of the Election Commission of India, a constitutional authority, and questioned what he described as the Congress leader’s "double standards" in dealing with electoral outcomes.

“If Rahul Gandhi had faced a setback in Maharashtra, he could have raised the issue in Parliament,” he said. “If the Election Commission had really sided with the BJP and betrayed Congress in Maharashtra, why didn’t he question its role when Congress won in Telangana?”

The BJP leader also pointed to inconsistencies in Congress’s stance across states. “In Himachal Pradesh, Congress is in power. BJP could have formed the government too. But when they win in Telangana, they speak one way, and when they lose in Maharashtra, they question the system while speaking abroad. This is the height of foolishness,” he remarked.

Criticising the Congress government in Karnataka, Vijayendra said people are protesting against its anti-people policies through the BJP’s Janakrosh Yatra, which has completed two phases. “The yatra is receiving a tremendous response across districts, with massive public participation,” he said.

He alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s government has made Karnataka one of the most expensive states to live in due to continuous price hikes. “Corruption has crossed all limits,” he said. “Because of our protest in the Valmiki Corporation scam, a minister was forced to resign.”

On the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, Vijayendra pointed to the return of 14 sites worth Rs 62 cr by the Chief Minister’s family. “Despite Siddaramaiah claiming innocence and accusing others of defamation, his family returned these sites unconditionally. This clearly proves he is not a clean politician but a corrupt one,” he alleged.

Vijayendra concluded by saying that development has come to a standstill under the Congress regime and vowed that the BJP would continue to expose its failures across the state.
