Udupi, Apr 22: Paryaya Puttige Math pontiff Sri Sri Sugunendra Theertha swamiji has offered his condolences for the demise of Christian world leader Pope Francis.

In his statement Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji said “Pope Francis had invited us to Vatican City two times. He was very compassionate towards all the religions.

"I have witnessed his immense respect towards various religions. Pope Francis was very much interested and was a keen observer of world issues like environment changes and others. His demise is a great loss for the faithful. He has represented the faithful community in world order. I hope the upcoming Pope will also follow his footsteps. I pray for the departed soul of Pope Francis is Lord Sri Krishna to grant him peace,” he said.
