Bengaluru, April 22: Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed on Tuesday that Pallavi (64), wife of former Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash, has confessed to his murder.
The police are continuing their investigations to ascertain the motive behind the crime. DCP Sarah Fathima earlier stated that the department was no longer seeking Pallavi’s custody.
Preliminary findings indicate that Pallavi and her daughter Kriti had planned to eliminate Om Prakash a week in advance.

According to police, Om Prakash was attacked while having lunch. An altercation had reportedly taken place between him and the two women.
While Om Prakash was eating fish, the accused allegedly attacked him using knives and a beer bottle.
It is believed that chilli powder was first thrown into his eyes to disable him from reaching for his licensed firearm. His body was found slumped at the dining table in a pool of blood after police forcibly entered the home.
A day after the brutal murder, Pallavi, said to be suffering from a mental health condition, was arrested on Monday and charged in connection with the case.
An FIR had already been filed against Pallavi and Kriti following the discovery of Om Prakash’s body at his residence in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, on Sunday.
The complaint was lodged by his son, Karthikesh Om Prakash, who claimed that his father had been receiving death threats from his wife over the past week. He also alleged that his sister had forcibly brought Om Prakash back home.
In the FIR, Pallavi is listed as the primary accused, with Kriti named as the second.
According to Karthikesh, Om Prakash had been staying at his sister Sarita Kumari’s residence to avoid conflict. “However, two days ago, my sister Kriti went there, harassed my father, and brought him back home,” he said.
“I suspect that my father, former DGP Om Prakash, was killed by my mother, Pallavi, and sister Kriti. They are both suffering from depression and would quarrel with my father every day,” he added in his statement.
“On April 20, around 5 pm, while I was at the Karnataka Golf Association in Domlur, my neighbour Sridharan called and told me that my father’s body was lying on the floor. I rushed home and arrived by 5.45 pm. By then, police and members of the public had already gathered. My father was lying in a pool of blood with injuries to his head. I saw knives and a bottle beside the body,” he stated. The body was subsequently taken to St John’s Hospital.
The HSR Layout Police have registered a case against Pallavi and Kriti under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police sources revealed that Pallavi had sent a message to the wife of another IPS officer, stating that she had “finished off a monster”. It has also been reported that she made a video call shortly after allegedly committing the act.
