Jerusalem, Apr 22: Israel on Tuesday strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, expressing solidarity with India in its ongoing battle against terrorism. The attack, which targeted tourists enjoying horse-riding in the scenic Baisran area, resulted in one fatality and several injuries.
Israel’s foreign minister, Gideon Sa’ar, expressed deep sorrow over the attack, posting on social media, “Deeply saddened by the heinous terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. Israel stands united with India in the fight against terror.”
Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, also shared his condolences, saying, “Sad and appalled following the terrorist attack in J&K. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families, and our support is for the security forces in their struggle against terror.”
The attack took place at around 2:30 pm when terrorists opened fire on tourists at a popular tourist spot. The injured were rushed to the hospital, with some in critical condition. Authorities have cordoned off the area as they continue to search for the attackers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently on a state visit to Saudi Arabia, expressed his anguish, stating, “I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected.” He also assured that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
