Corpus Christi Church observes Holy Week with solemn devotion and community spirit

Moodbidri, Apr 23: Corpus Christi Church, under the spiritual leadership of Fr Onil D’Souza, Fr Valerian Fernandes, and Fr Deepak Noronha, solemnly commemorated Holy Week on April 17, 18, and 19, with deep reverence and faith. The sacred ceremonies of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday were held at the church grounds and were marked by spiritual fervour and active participation of the parish community.

On Maundy Thursday, Fr Onil D’Souza symbolically washed the feet of twelve parishioners, reenacting Jesus Christ’s act of humility and service. Fr Valerian Fernandes delivered a moving homily on the importance of loving one another, echoing the evening’s message of compassion and unity.

Good Friday began with a solemn Way of the Cross procession. Parishioners walked in prayerful silence as ward members carried a large cross, retracing Christ’s journey to Calvary. In the evening, Fr Deepak Noronha and Fr Onil D’Souza led the Good Friday service, focusing on the Passion of Christ and the adoration of the Holy Cross.

Holy Saturday witnessed a gathering of parishioners holding lit candles, symbolizing Christ as the Light of the World. Fr Onil’s powerful homily on the Resurrection was enriched with real-life stories of faith. The evening concluded with the inauguration of the YCS Silver Jubilee logo, games organized by ICYM members, and the distribution of refreshments.

Vincent Mascarenhas was felicitated by the ICYM members for his unwavering support and guidance for the youth movement for many years.

Fr Onil D’Souza extended heartfelt thanks to all who supported the Holy Week event blessing them with candles in gratitude.
