Chhatarpur, Apr 23: In a heart-wrenching incident, an eight-year-old girl lost her life following a brutal assault in the Bada Malhera police station area of Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh. The accused, 45-year-old Balkrishna Yadav, allegedly attempted to sexually assault the minor before resorting to violence.

The horrifying event unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when Yadav lured the victim, along with her siblings and cousins, with promises of toffees while they played near their home. He led the girl to an isolated location, dismissing her siblings, where he attempted the assault. When his efforts failed, Yadav viciously crushed the girl's face with a heavy stone in a bid to silence her.

Deputy superintendent of police Rohit Aalwa reported that the victim's siblings quickly informed their mother about the incident. As the girl's father was away for work, her mother rushed to the scene and witnessed Yadav fleeing. She immediately alerted the police while the critically injured girl was taken to a local hospital.

Due to the severity of her injuries, the victim was later referred to Chhatarpur District Hospital. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Wednesday. Initial medical examinations did not confirm sexual assault, but an autopsy report is pending, which may lead to additional charges under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita. The accused was arrested on Tuesday.
