C T Ravi: Global terrorism being justified in the name of Islam, root cause must be tackled

Bengaluru, Apr 23: Former BJP national secretary and Karnataka MLC C T Ravi on Wednesday said that global terrorism is being carried out in the name of Islam, and urged the nation to unite in combating the threat it poses to humanity.

Speaking to the media in Bengaluru following the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that killed 26 tourists and civilians, Ravi said, “These terrorists didn’t ask about language, caste, or region only about religion. Innocent people were targeted just because they had not accepted Islam. Are even those who converted truly safe?”

Calling for an aggressive approach, Ravi declared, “There must be zero mercy for terrorists. They must be eliminated without hesitation.”

He referenced historical figures like Ghazni, Ghori, Khilji, Aurangzeb, and Tipu Sultan, claiming they used political power for mass killings and conversions, warning that modern terrorism reflects similar ideologies.

Highlighting the need to eliminate the ideological roots of extremism, Ravi said, “Even if the current attackers are caught, others will rise like Raktabeejasuras unless the ideology behind it is dismantled.”

In a provocative statement, he challenged religious communities to remove any traces of intolerance from their scriptures. “If the Vedas or Bhagavad Gita promote intolerance, remove it. But do we have the courage to say the same about the Quran or the Bible?” he asked.

Ravi described the attackers as having a ‘demonic mindset,’ stating, “They killed husbands before their wives, fathers before children this is not human behavior. They have declared that they hold no regard for human values.”

He also criticized the reactive pattern seen after terror attacks condemnations, mourning, compensation saying it often leads to the public forgetting the gravity of such incidents.

“Instead of debating how many were from which caste or state, we must recognize that for these terrorists, anyone not of their faith is a kafir,” he said.

The Pahalgam attack occurred on Tuesday when heavily armed terrorists emerged from nearby forests and indiscriminately opened fire on tourists at the scenic Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam town.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who cut short his trip to Saudi Arabia following the attack, returned to New Delhi early Wednesday and immediately met with NSA Ajit Doval and top foreign policy officials. Modi strongly condemned the attack and vowed that the perpetrators would be brought to justice, reaffirming India’s unwavering stance against terrorism.
