Hyderabad, Apr 23: Jasprit Bumrah has etched yet another milestone in his illustrious IPL career, equalling Lasith Malinga’s record for the most wickets taken for Mumbai Indians (MI). The star pacer reached the landmark in Match 41 of IPL 2025 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Bumrah dismissed Heinrich Klaasen with the final delivery of his spell to register his 170th wicket for MI, matching Malinga’s long-standing tally. While it was his sole wicket in the game, it was one of historic significance.
Bumrah, who has now played 138 matches for Mumbai, achieved the feat in more games than Malinga, who took his 170 wickets in 122 appearances. With MI rotating bowlers this season, Bumrah continues to deliver at crucial moments.
Following Bumrah and Malinga, Harbhajan Singh (127), Mitchell McClenaghan (71), and Kieron Pollard (69) complete MI’s top five wicket-takers.
Bumrah also climbed to the eighth spot on the all-time IPL wicket-takers list. Rajasthan Royals' Yuzvendra Chahal leads the chart with 214 wickets, followed by Piyush Chawla (192) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (189).
