Mangalore: Rahim Uchil Appointed President of Beary Academy

Mangalore, Jan 20: The state government, through an order, has appointed Rahim Uchil, a noted social worker, as the next president of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy. The appointment will come into effect from February 6, 2012.

Uchil has functioned as the general secretary of BJP Dakshina Kannada district Yuva Morcha unit, member of district Wakf Advisory Committee, convener of Veerarani Abbakka Utsava Samiti, general secretary of Manava Sauharda Vedike, and is involved with a number of other organizations including Rashtriya Muslim Manch.

Uchil had provided story, written dialogue, and directed the first ever movie in Beary language, ‘Mami Marmol’ He has donned important roles in Beary movies like Beary, Sandola, Sahana, Nangilo Kutumba, and plays, Terrorist, Kunhali MBBS, Birandar, and Kurfat Katte.

Uchil has also worked as the editor of ‘Beary Varte’ publication, and as news reader in Beary language in visual media, besides serving Beary Literary and Cultural Association, Bearys Welfare Association and Central Beary Sahitya Parishad. In the previous term of Sahitya Academy, he had served as its member.
